The ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon is a Capture the Flag (CTF) competition organized by ECOWAS and hosted by Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
This event provides a valuable platform for both beginners and experienced professionals to delve into the realm of cybersecurity, acquire new skills, and connect with like-minded enthusiasts.
The primary goal of the ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon is to create a space for young tech enthusiasts to enhance the cyber workforce in the region. Member states are strongly encouraged to join and present their brightest talents in this competition.
Phase One of the ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon
Date: August 6 – August 31, 2024
Format: Online CTF competition
Participants: All participants in the ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon must be citizens of ECOWAS member countries. Please note that travel tickets will only be provided for participants residing within the region.
Objective: Engage in a series of ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon challenges to identify the top team from each member state
Team: Each team must consist of a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of four (4) members. Teams are encouraged to include at least one (1) female participant.
Age – Participants must be between seventeen (17) and thirty-five (35) years of age.
Phase Two of the ECOWAS Cybersecurity Hackathon
Date: October 14 – October 16, 2024
Format: In-person CTF competition
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Participants: The leading teams from each ECOWAS member state
Objective: Identify the top regional cybersecurity team through a competitive in-person CTF event, emphasizing cross-border collaboration and advanced cybersecurity skills.
